Single or Double: Which Fristam Seal Does Your Pump Need?
The answer depends on the pump. FPX pumps are built around a single internal seal. FP and FPR pumps can also run a double seal with a water flush, used where the product needs extra protection or the seal must stay cool and clean. Check which version your pump has before you order, because the two are not interchangeable. Either way, the seal is made to the original Fristam seal size for your pump model, so it fits the existing seal chamber without changes. In practice, fitting means cleaning the shaft, seating the stationary ring squarely, setting the rotary unit and checking that it rotates freely before the pump goes back on CIP. Because the seal sits inside the pump head, it never touches the outside environment, and it handles hot cleaning cycles and steam sterilization well. That makes it a sound choice for dairy, beverage and pharmaceutical lines. Our blog has a short guide to identifying your Fristam seal size from the pump nameplate.
