Balance Seals
Wave Spring Mechanical Seal
- Undulating wave-form spring replaces the coil spring, cutting axial length significantly compared to conventional single or multi-spring designs
- Uniform, low-profile closing force ideal for pumps with restricted seal chamber depth
- Reduced spring surface area limits solids entrapment better than tightly wound coil springs
- Stable face loading maintained even in compact cartridge and OEM seal housings
- Balanced construction lowers hydraulic load on the seal faces for extended face life
- Well suited to retrofit applications where chamber space doesn’t allow a standard spring seal
- Consistent performance across a wide range of shaft speeds without spring surge
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Built for Tight Spaces Without Compromising Seal Performance
Fitting a wave spring seal follows a similar process to other cartridge-style seals — the pre-set assembly is slid onto the shaft as a unit, positioned within the seal chamber, and locked once the correct working length and shaft alignment are confirmed, with the wave spring already compressed to the right setting inside the cartridge. The real advantage of this design shows up in pumps where chamber depth is limited: the flattened wave-form spring takes up a fraction of the axial space a coil spring would need, without sacrificing the even closing force required for reliable sealing. This makes it a practical choice for compact pump models, OEM equipment with tight housing tolerances, and retrofit situations where a standard spring seal simply won't fit.
