Fitting a Teflon bellow seal starts with sliding the bellow assembly onto the shaft and setting it to its correct pre-compressed length, since the PTFE bellow itself provides the spring force rather than a separate metal coil. The stationary seat is then seated squarely in the gland, and the bellow's set screws or drive mechanism is locked once shaft alignment is confirmed — no elastomer O-rings to worry about compressing correctly on the dynamic side. What sets this seal apart is where it excels: highly corrosive chemicals, media prone to crystallization on contact with air, and processes where elastomer compatibility charts run out of options. Because there's no dynamic elastomer or exposed spring, it also holds up well in applications with thermal cycling or where fluid chemistry shifts over time.
