Unbalance Seals
Unbalanced Multi Spring Mechanical Seal
- Multiple small springs distributed around the seal provide even, uniform closing force across the face
- Unbalanced construction keeps design simple and manufacturing cost lower than balanced multi-spring variants
- Stable performance at higher shaft speeds compared to single-spring unbalanced designs
- Compact axial length suited to pumps with limited seal chamber space
- Consistent face loading maintained even under minor shaft runout or misalignment
- Best suited to clean to moderately clean fluids where narrow spring gaps won’t collect solids
- Reliable bi-directional rotation capability, useful across varied pump configurations
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Steady Sealing Force for Standard-Speed Pump Applications
Fitting a multi spring unbalanced seal follows the standard spring-seal process — the rotating assembly is positioned on the shaft, the spring set is compressed evenly to the specified working length, and the stationary seat is aligned squarely in the chamber before final tightening. Getting uniform compression across all the springs matters here, since uneven loading can create hot spots on the face over time. This design holds its sealing force well at higher rotational speeds than a single-spring equivalent, and its shorter axial length makes it a good fit for pumps with tighter chamber dimensions. It performs best with clean or lightly loaded fluids, since the narrow gaps between the springs can trap fine solids in dirtier services.
