Pump Shaft Sleeves
The sleeve’s entire job is to take the wear so the shaft itself doesn’t have to — it sits between the shaft and the seal or packing, and it’s designed to be the sacrificial, replaceable part. Which material makes sense depends on what’s wearing it down: Mech Seal Engineering manufactures sleeves in Stainless Steel for standard corrosion resistance across general pump duty, Silicon Carbide for high-speed pumps and abrasive, sand-laden media where wear resistance and thermal stability matter most, and Ceramic for corrosive or high-temperature service where metal sleeves would degrade — though ceramic’s brittleness and different thermal expansion rate versus the metal shaft mean it needs careful fit tolerancing. For pumps outside standard sizing, we manufacture sleeves to drawing, matched to your original dimensions and shaft tolerance.
Shaft Sleeve — SS (Stainless Steel)
Stainless steel shaft sleeves protect the pump shaft from wear, corrosion, and fretting at the seal and packing contact points, extending shaft life and simplifying maintenance since a worn sleeve is far cheaper to replace than the shaft itself. Manufactured in SS 304 and SS 316 grades to match original equipment dimensions, these sleeves fit directly onto existing shafts without requiring modification. We machine to your pump's specific shaft drawing for accurate, reliable fitment.
Shaft Sleeve — Ceramic
Hard, wear-resistant surface, excellent for abrasive fluid contact points.
- Resists scoring and wear at seal and packing contact zones
- Chemically inert, suited to corrosive media
- Manufactured to original equipment shaft dimensions
Shaft Sleeve — Silicon Carbide
Silicon Carbide shaft sleeves offer exceptional hardness and wear resistance, protecting the shaft in abrasive or solids-laden fluid service where a standard stainless steel sleeve would wear through quickly. Their high thermal conductivity and chemical inertness also make them well suited to demanding process conditions beyond what metal sleeves can handle. Manufactured to original equipment shaft dimensions, these sleeves fit directly onto existing shafts without requiring modification.
